Easter and the Celtic Cross

It commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ where after his crucifixion, death and burial, he rose from the grave thereby conquering death and redeeming us from sin. Everyone associates the cross with this event but to those with the Catholic faith or an Irish heritage (or indeed, any Celtic heritage) the Celtic Cross has special significance.

There are several interpretations of the different parts of the cross but many believe that the circular portion is a symbol of eternal life and God’s infinite love. In legend, St Patrick is believed to have made the first Celtic Cross by making the mark of a Latin cross through the circle and blessing the stone.

There are many designs of Celtic Cross which we are able to supply and are ideal for giving gifts for all ages at ceremonies like Holy Communion. Some are more ornate than others. There are large pieces with a dancing stone in the center to a simple cross without the circle but with a trinity knot instead which sums up the phrase , ‘Less is More’.
