The Shamrock is a much beloved Irish symbol and legend tells that St Patrick himself used the humble Shamrock plant to illustrate the importance of the Holy Trinity - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Trinity knot found at the base of the oval depicts again the importance of the number three to the Celts - it also represents the Holy Trinity. Having no discernable beginning or end, this Trinity knot also illustrates life's never ending circle.
